Workout of the Week - Squat into Shoulder Press

Set-up
Grab two dumbbells, one in each hand. Have each dumbbell in front of each shoulder with elbows in. Feet shoulder width or slightly wider with feet at a 45 degree.
Movement
Now with the weight against your shoulders with elbows out, squat down as deep as you can with having your elbows come down on top of knees or between your knees. When coming back up stand tall and go into a shoulder press.
Key Points
You can have your feet straight or at a 45 degree angle.
Full body workout that will also work the core
If I were to incorporate these I would pick a weight where doing 10-12 reps would be difficult. You can add it to a workout set, rotating between different exercises, doing it about 4x total. Now start squatting and get that summer booty in gear!
Like always, thanks Jon for the workout tips!
Happy Real Fit Friday!
Eat greens and trust your instincts
With the nice weather in Portland lately, it makes it SUPER easy to be active and keep up on fitness plans and eating healthy. I am excited for what’s to come for Real Fit (www.realfoodreallife.tv/realfit) and real food. real life. and helping others learn from the people I have come across along the way! Tomorrow is Real Fit Friday and I’ll be taking pictures today for tomorrow’s workout of the week. I also hope to update on my measurements from my 2 week Mexico challenge!
In the meantime I had to share my new shoe obsession. At the beginning of the year I had a shoe that I fell in love with and posted about. They were New Balance Minimus 20’s. When I love something I share it with everyone, normally starting with my family - it’s not easy to convince my mom of anything food or health related, but she ended up buying a pair and loved them!

I’m not normally a fan of Nike’s since I had never found a shoe I really liked looks wise, comfort, support, etc. The ones I tried always reminded me of a high heeled version of running shoes and I don’t wear heels. Well a few months ago I bought my first pair of Nike Free Run 2 shoes when we were buying some for Bob. I figured I would give them a try and I LOVE them!! I wear them everyday and after a few months of wearing them I think I have come to the realization I need to buy another pair. They are comfortable, lightweight (which is what I liked about the shoes that were my old favorites) supportive, the list goes on and on! Brandi, I know you bought the other ones when I mentioned they were my favs, so know like food, I am always trying new things and I know you will love these too ;)

Whether I am training with Jon, doing my HIIT workout, cardio, you name it, they are great! So great, that I put them on in the morning to workout and notice I don’t take them off until it’s time to go to bed haha!

Happy Thursday!

Here goes nothin! Fat burning lemonade powder, water, lemon drop stevia drops and cayenne pepper. So excited to pick up my little fur ball Alvin, we missed him so much! :) Working on-the-go today and between Whole Foods/New Seasons runs! #busy
It arrived! And just in time for me to get back into the swing of things since Mexico. Cardio done for the day, now onto the fat burning lemonade! Totally going to visit this health/fitness bar when I’m in LA next! #realfit www.holisticfitness.com
